Why use WebP?
WebP files are typically 25–35% smaller than an equivalent JPG at the same visual quality, which makes pages load faster. Every current browser supports it.
My browser cannot produce WebP.
The tool checks first and tells you if WebP encoding is unavailable, rather than silently handing you a PNG with the wrong extension. Safari before version 14 is the usual case.
